And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.
And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.
And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.
And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.
And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?
And they said, The Lord hath need of him.
And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;
Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

  路加福音独有的记载 

  路 19:1-10> 有些人实在很讨厌,叫人想要避开;你想耶稣爱他们吗? 

  19:1-10 罗马人为了庞大的帝国支出,向他们所统治的国家征收重税。犹太人很抗拒这些税项,因为这些税款是用来支持一个欺压他们的政府和外邦神只,可是他们仍然要被迫缴纳。在以色列,税吏是最不受欢迎的人物之一,作税吏的犹太人被同胞视为卖国贼。此外,税吏藉欺诈同胞以肥自己,因此,难怪当耶稣说“今天我必住在你家里”时,群众就私下议论呢!尽管撒该不诚实,而且被视为卖国贼,耶稣仍爱他;他也作出了反应──悔改了。在每一个社会里,都有某些人因为政治、不道德行为或生活方式而被人厌恶,被视为是“不可接触”的。我们不要因社会压力而避开这些人,耶稣爱他们,他们也需要听到福音。 

  路 19:8> 撒该悔改后跟以前实在有很大的分别,真不可思义;我也悔改了,可是我…… 

  19:8 从群众对撒该的反应来看,毫无疑问他是一个极之奸诈的税吏。然而,当他遇到耶稣后,就知道自己需要悔改。他藉着把财产分给穷人,以及连本带利赔还他曾欺骗过的人的行动,来表明他内心的改变。单单口头上说跟随耶稣是不足够的,你必须改变你的行为,以表明你的信心。 

  路 19:9-10> 耶稣来,为要寻找──你可是被寻找的一位? 

  19:9-10 撒该是亚伯拉罕的子孙,即神的选民,但他并没有跟随神。耶稣来是要寻找拯救迷失的人。一个人是得救或是遭撇弃,不是靠他的遗传,而是靠他对主的信心,信心比血统更重要。不论迷失的人的背景和生活方式如何,都可靠信心得到赦免和更新。 

  路 19:9-10> 也许犹太人会想,只要是亚伯拉罕的子孙便可得救;你较他们聪明,你知道得救是…… 

  19:9-10 当耶稣说撒该是亚伯拉罕迷失的子孙时,听众肯定震惊。首先,他们极不愿意承认这个可恶的税吏是亚伯拉罕的子孙,另外他们也不肯承认亚伯拉罕的子孙会迷失。他们不知道一个人得救或定罪不是因他的遗传;对主的信心比血统更重要。 

  路 19:11-27> 神赐给你的,你用来做了什么?为自己或是…… 

  19:11-27 这个故事显明在耶稣升天及再来期间,跟随祂的人应做些什么。我们就生活在这段期间,所以这些对我们也是直接适用的。我们获得了丰富的资源,耶稣期望我们善用它,来建造扩展神的国。祂要问我们每一个人:“你用我所赐给你的做了些什么?”我们在等待神的国荣耀降临时,应为祂作工。 

  路 19:20-27> 没有赚钱就是错──也不一定,可我问你拥有恩赐不运用又如何? 

  19:20-27 为什么王这样严厉对待这个没有赚到金钱的仆人?他要刑罚这个人是因为( 1 )他不关心主人的国度;( 2 )他不遵行主人的旨意;( 3 )他只忠于自己;( 4 )他没有运用这些钱来做什么。像这个故事的王一样,神已给你恩赐,叫你为祂的国的利益而善用这些恩赐。你是否希望这国增长?你是否相信神会公平地统治这国?你是否像关心你自己的利益一样,去关心别人的利益呢?你是否愿意忠心的使用祂所交托给你的呢? 

  在耶路撒冷的最后一个星期 

  路 19:30-35> 你会不会奇怪,那人怎会轻易地把驴交给门徒? 

  19:30-35 到这时候耶稣已广为人所熟识,每个来到耶路撒冷过逾越节的人都曾经听到过祂,而且曾有一段时间大部分人都欢迎祂。所以门徒只说声:“主要用它”,小驴驹的主人便高兴地把它交给门徒。 

  路 19:36-37> 耶稣进耶路撒冷的情况是怎样的?祂为何选在逾越节前进去? 

  19:36-37 耶稣要应验撒迦利亚书 9 章 9 节的预言:“看哪,你的王来到你这里,他是公义的,并且施行拯救,谦谦和和地骑着驴,就是骑着驴的驹子。”为了宣告祂实在就是弥赛亚,耶稣选择了一个所有以色列人都会聚在耶路撒冷的时间,一处最多群众可以看到祂的地方,以及一种宣告祂使命的明确方法。人们都变得狂热起来,他们现在确知很快便会得到释放。 

  路 19:38> 人真善变,对耶稣一时一样;我,好像也是…… 

  19:38 那些赞美神赐给他们一位王的人,希望耶稣是国家领袖,使国家恢复以往的荣耀,因此他们听不进先知说的话,看不见耶稣真正的使命。当他们发觉耶稣不是要达到他们的愿望时,都转过来攻击祂。 

  路 19:42-44> 为耶路撒冷哀哭?太早了一点吧,它不是好好的存在吗? 

  19:42-44 耶稣这些话在四十年之后应验了。在公元 66 年,犹太人反抗罗马人的统治。三年后,罗马维斯帕先王派遣他儿子提多来扫平叛乱。罗马军队攻打耶路撒冷,攻破外围城市,却不能攻下这城。最后他们采用围困战术,在公元 70 年攻陷这个再无抵抗之力的城市,并放火焚城。在提多的大屠杀中,一共有六十万犹太人死于刀下。 

  路 19:47> 多了一个新名词,“百姓的尊长”又是一些什么人? 

  19:47 百姓的尊长是指谁呢?这可能包括政治、商业及法律界中的佼佼者,他们有很多理由想除灭耶稣。其一,耶稣曾经把在圣殿里做生意的商人赶出来;此外,祂传道的内容常常针对不公义的事,而祂的教训又对穷人有利;还有,祂受欢迎的程度会引起罗马人的注意,而他们却希望尽量避免与罗马人有任何交往、瓜葛。──《灵修版圣经注释》
