And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
And they could not answer him again to these things.
And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,
When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

  路 14:1-6> 法利赛人从良了,竟把耶稣请到家里? 

  14:1-6 较早前一个法利赛人邀请耶稣到家里做客( 7:36 ),而这一次是他们特设的陷阱,要抓耶稣说话的把柄,好逮捕祂。 

  路 14:2> 路加不愧是医生,连生什么病也清楚知道…… 

  14:2 路加是一个医生,能清楚指出这人是患了水臌。水臌就是在身体的组织或胸腔、腹腔里积聚了过量的体液或水分,中医指腹部积水。 

  路 14:7-14> 人爱上座,面子自光,耶稣却说人要自卑──我有能力,有付出,不配受人看重吗? 

  14:7-14 在这里耶稣教训他们两点:对于宾客,祂告诉他们不要争坐首位,在神的国中,服事远比地位重要;对于主人,祂告诉他们不要以势利眼光去请客,神的国是开放给每一个人的,特别是那些永远不能回报的人。这两项教导今日同样适用。 

  路 14:11> 谦卑在这个社会而言就是自卑,有谁会说自己能力有限?谁不说是的,我能够? 

  14:11 我们如何能够谦卑呢?有些人外表装作谦卑,为的是操纵别人。但真正谦卑的人是拿自己与基督相比,认识自己的罪,知道自己在能力、道德表现及知识方面的不足。谦卑不是贬低自己,而是老实地肯定自己。真正谦卑的人不会为了达到个人目的而装作谦卑,只会因为与神的关系而谦卑。 

  路 14:15-24> 你想相信耶稣的机会很多吗?祂可是一次又一次地邀请你,你还在等什么? 

  14:15-24 与耶稣一起的这个人看到了神的国的荣耀,但他不知道如何进去。耶稣讲的故事,显明人们常常拒绝神的邀请,因为他们认为那时间不方便。不论我们的藉口看起来多么有理由──做生意、结婚、财富或是其他,事实上是拒绝或拖延回应神的邀请。神的邀请是人生中最重要的事。你是否用各种藉口来逃避神?小心,机会一去不返。 

  路 14:16-24> 宴会有两次邀请,神也曾经发出了两次邀请,你可收到邀请? 

  14:16-24 当时的习惯是:请客的主人会向同一人发出两次邀请──第一次是宣布邀请,第二次是告诉客人一切已准备好了。耶稣讲的故事里被邀请的人在那主人第二次邀请他们时,用各种藉口推托,侮辱了那位主人。在以色列的历史中,神的第一次邀请是由先知发出的;第二次则是由祂的儿子发出的。宗教领袖接受了第一次邀请,他们相信先知,却拒绝相信神的儿子,侮辱了神。因此,正如故事中的主人差遣仆人到街上请那些有需要的人来赴筵席一样,神差遣祂的儿子到那些有需要的人那里去,告诉他们神的国已经来到,已经准备好等候他们到来。 

  路 14:27> 人说基督教太绝对,又排外,可是耶稣要你甘心顺服,你可会? 

  14:27 耶稣的听众清楚知道背起自己的十字架是什么意思。当罗马人把犯人带到刑场时,该犯人要被迫背着他将被挂在其上的十字架。这要显明他屈服在罗马统治之下,也警告围观的人。耶稣用这个教导叫群众认真思想,是舍弃一切跟随祂,还是走回头路?跟随基督的意思是完全地服从祂──就是死,也要服从。 

  路 14:33> 是的,跟随基督也要计算代价,就是撇下所有呀!你,没有想过? 

  14:33 一个盖楼者没有计算成本,或者计算错误的话,他的楼房可能盖到一半便要停工。你的基督徒生命是否只建好了一半,后来由于你没有计算献身耶稣的代价而放弃了?基督徒可能会遇到丧失社会地位或财富的危险,他或许要放弃对自己的时间、金钱或职业的控制权;他可能会被人恨恶、与家人隔绝,甚至被杀。跟随基督并不等于可以过无风无浪的生活。我们必须仔细地计算作基督门徒的代价,好让我们知道自己在做什么,免得日后被引诱走回头路。 

  路 14:34> 盐的功用你可知道?失掉咸味会怎样?不知道不可以的──你,可是世上的盐呀…… 

  14:34 盐会失去它的味道。当矿盐湿了,盐分流失后又变干时,便只剩下没有味道的渣滓。许多基督徒与世界融合,不肯付代价为基督站起来。但耶稣说假如基督徒失去了他独特的咸味,便会变得毫无价值。正如盐可以调味和保存食物一样,我们也要保存世上美好的事物,免得它被破坏,并且为生命带来新的味道。这需要有计划,忠心地为基督的国牺牲,还要坚定不移地献身于基督的国。要有“咸味”是不容易的,但基督徒若没有这功用,便不能在世上代表基督。你有多少“咸味”呢?──《灵修版圣经注释》
